There is a deep connection between ServiTecno, especially its founder Eraldo Tieghi, and the city of Milan.

Eraldo together with his brothers Giulio and Vittorio is among the men who changed the world of automation: nel 1943 is founded FAS (Scientific Apparatus Factory) and after its transfer in the 50s to via Koristka in Milan (current headquarters of ServiTecno) an ascent begins which has solid foundations in the genius of the two brothers Eraldo and Vittorio, given the tragic death of Giulio in a plane crash.

In those years a renewed sense of belonging as a citizen pushed the inhabitants to rediscover their own values in the city symbols themselves: a Milano are the Madonna and the new Torre del Parco to fill this role.

Initiates underground excavations for the construction of line 1 of the Milanese underground, was great concern aroused by vibrations of a yard so near the Cathedral: would they have caused damage to the largest opera house in Milan? How would the infinite spiers react to so much movement?

They were precisely the tools of Eraldo and della FAS (now FASINT) to give the answers you were looking for: at the foot of the Madonnina and at the base of the “Fabbrica del Duomo” two seismographs were installed, which served to reassure insiders and citizens.

The excavation first and the underground traffic afterwards did not create any problems, but thanks to these instruments (for years the only seismographs in Lombardy) possible oscillations from 1 to 10 millimeters were discovered, however, linked to atmospheric events and earthquakes.

The instrument at the foot of the Madonnina remained active until the end of the 80s, when it was struck by lightning.

Another chapter, equally important: traffic was becoming important and many wondered about the effects of pollution on the city of Milan.

For this reason an instrument capable of measuring i was installed parameters of the smog cloud that began to hover over the city: a problem that had to be monitored in order to make the right decisions about it.

Data regarding humidity and temperature of the emissions began to be collected and monitored by the Brera Observatory: on the basis of this new information ordinances were issued for heating fuels and boilers, with immediate and measurable results.

The Tower fell into disuse over time (now perfectly recovered and used), but a road had been opened which led to the installation of other measuring instruments: obviously these too were created by the founder of ServiTecno and FASINTEraldo Tieghi.
