SCADA is no longer a panel on the machine or a standalone application.

If before the "race" of the single tag was short and defined, today every single data generated by the field enters a ecosystem much more large: historical and real-time analysis more and more detailed, more attention to the efficiency of the plant, alarm management and procedures restoration more and more thrusts of the system… all often managed at least partially using the potential of the cloud and new interfaces linked to the use of mobile devices.

All these activities require a large use of financial resources and man hours for the'implementation especially if you use them inhomogeneous systems (which is the order of the day in a factory environment).

What happens today is that:

  • La driving feel generate the data
  • Lo SCADA (1st brand) samples it and displays it
  • Lo HISTORICAL (2nd brand) historicize the data
  • Un ANALYSIS Tool (3rd brand) "fishing" from the history for Reporting and Analysis
  • A Tool of ALARM REMOTING (4th brand) manage alarms…

A series of passages from one technology to another which requires a great effort on the part of the System Integrators and which could bring with it problems related to the incompatibility of non-homogeneous systems.

Until a few years ago, when SCADA was still a mere viewer of the supervisory system, the technological proposals (particularly that of GE Digital) they have evolved, to give the end user an integrated system and the programmers a platform that is simple to implement in all its aspects.

Already since the version of iFix 5.0 the Historian Essential (General Electric's process data logging platform) was included in the SCADA proposal and with a simple flag the historicization process could be started.

Since the last release of version 5.9 released in 2017 DreamReports have also been included, historical and real-time analysis and reporting platform, and WIN911, tool for remote control and taking charge of alarms with more than 10.000 applications worldwide.

In this way all the "vital" functions of the system can be managed with a single advanced platform, delegating all the other secondary functions to the Cloud: a great advantage for the implementation of old and new systems, isn't it?
