GE Digital announced Proficy Smart Factory, a manufacturing software suite comprising on-premises, cloud and mixed architectures that merge the digital and physical worlds to provide holistic operations performance management for today's connected enterprise.

Improving the efficiency, quality and productivity of manufacturers, Proficy Smart Factory is one Powerful operations management solution for process, discrete and mixed manufacturing environments. Collects and analyzes data to handle fast-moving highly automated processes, as well as slower, more labor-intensive jobs. The suite automates and integrates activity information to manage production execution and optimize performance, helping to balance trade-offs between competing priorities of manufacturing operations.

Proficy Smart Factory includes a new set of cloud-based manufacturing solutions for OEE, production management, and quality management that can reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 30% over five years. Cloud-based manufacturing solutions offer lower costs, reduced maintenance, and increased security.

With the on-premise solution currently installed in thousands of sites, GE Digital is now expanding its offering of solutions that are fully hosted in the cloud as a managed service, reducing both CAPEX and OPEX. This new offering provides businesses with robust technology to enhance their operations along with the flexibility to deploy in a way that best suits their needs.

“Today we are seeing a transformation of mission critical factory processes driven by the need to collect, connect and analyze plant data to keep operations running flexibly and efficiently. Manufacturers are realizing the benefit of using the cloud as a fabric to establish an enterprise-wide platform to analyze data coming from the shop floor allowing them to convert it into actionable insights for business decision-makers,” he said Lorenzo Veronesi, Associate Research Director, IDC Manufacturing Insights.

Building on more than 20 years of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) leadership with thousands of installations worldwide, GE Digital combines long-term MES knowledge with the latest cloud-based technology to meet customer outcomes. Proficy Smart Factory provides the tools to successfully transition to a digitally driven model that allows manufacturers to track data on plant, equipment, materials and people; specify metrics to track production across all equipment; catch deviations to avoid waste of materials; predict overruns and shortages before they happen and reschedule orders based on the availability of materials, equipment and personnel; and better understand operations with traceability across the full scope of the manufacturing process.

The new suite includes accelerated cloud deployment with concierge services for setup and validation within four weeks, allowing users to quickly monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and other key performance indicators (KPIs) with the root cause analysis and identification of countermeasures.

“Proficy Smart Factory helps companies improve their operations in a lighter and smaller footprint that accelerates time to value and reduces costs,” he said Richard Kenedi, general manager of GE Digital's Manufacturing Software Division. “This new innovation continues our legacy of being a leader in manufacturing solutions. Enhance our ability to deliver a manufacturing solution for any business, regardless of the size of their internal staff, their budget or the maturity level of their digital transformation. Cloud-based manufacturing solutions make operational excellence and IoT-powered digital transformation accessible to everyone.”

The Proficy Smart Factory suite provides a wide range of digital manufacturing capabilities: efficiency management, quality management, production management (non-serialized and serialized), batch and process analysis, production scheduling, digital operations (centralized , remote and mobile), hybrid cloud industrial data management, advanced industrial analytics and interactive work process management.

ServiTecno will participate in the European Utility Week. A useful event for all operators in the sector, who will be able to "touch" the existing solutions in the field of automation and supervision as well as the new industrial technologies related to the concepts of Industrial Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

From November 30th to December 2nd you can find our stand at the RHO exhibition center (position B64 hall 8): click the banner below to register.

New call to action

It will be a great opportunity to return to face-to-face activities and to show users of GE Digital technologies (and others) the new releases of the Proficy family platforms.

Not only new features and functions regarding SCADA (iFix and Cimplicity) and Historian technologies, but a real revolution for the portfolio regarding Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with Operations Hub solutions (the GE's universal client), Plant Apps (GE's MES), and CSense (machine learning and AI).
