Also this year the European Cyber Security Month will be supported in Italy by Clusit together with various organizations, Universities and Research Centers: among the many activities sponsored by the Italian Association for Information Security we point out the Security Summit Vertical – Manufacturing (October 7, 2021 from 10 to 12.30), an event designed to analyze the state of the art, threats and possibilities in the Industrial Cyber Security field, i.e. the branch of IT Security linked to factory technologies (or process technologies in general)
Among the experts called to illustrate the trends and discuss impacts and countermeasures, the representatives of primary Associations and Bodies were involved, real references in the industrial world, such as:
- ANIE Automation, which with its over 100 member companies represents companies operating in Italy in the factory systems sector, – Aused, the most authoritative Italian community of CIOs,
- ANIPLA, Italian National Association for Automation,
- CRIT Research, which with its 28 leading partners in the reference markets is specialized in the research and analysis of Innovations and Technologies
- University of Modena/Reggio which presents the I4S Industria4.0 Security project,
The moderator will be Enzo M. Tieghi of the Scientific Committee of Clusit, referent for OT/IIoT Security.
During the event we will talk about the impacts that IT risk in the factory can have on the Operational Continuity of productionas well as on Safety and Sustainability, also with clear references to what happened in the last two years in times of the Covid19 pandemic.

THEECSM – European CyberSecurity Month is a European Union campaign held throughout the month of October to promote awareness among citizens of cyber threats and methods to counter them, to change their perception of cyber threats and provide updated information on the matter of cyber protection and computer security. The ECSM is organized by the European agency Enisa, with various activities in all EU member countries.
Despite crises and inefficiencies, we are among the largest producers of industrial goods in the world. The industries, both manufacturing and process, use automated systems (ICS, Industrial Control Systems) that use very common technologies with all the ICT systems used in the Company. Hence the need for protect against cyber risks also factory systems, especially in the presence of Industry 4.0 projects
A further push in this direction comes from the progression that you all see in the convergence and integration of IT (Information Technology) with OT (Operation Technology), with the data generated on machinery and systems increasingly used for management purposes. And a further boost comes from the widespread use of the industrial IoT.
