iFIX 6.0 introduces several improvements aimed at reducing interface realization times and increasing operational efficiency, offering an extremely secure design method and improving equipment availability by reducing costs and risks.
Among the improvements made since the last release of iFIX extension they appear lo alarm shelving, i.e. the ability to mute them manually for a predefined period of time, the integration of an OPC UA server, support for long tag names and descriptions and much more.

Alarm shalving in accordance with ISA 18.2 standard
iFIX 6.0 offers support for the ISA 18.2 standard, making it possible to increase the efficiency of the systems thanks to the possibility of not taking charge of non-significant alarms. In fact, operators can silence alarms directly during operation e create up to 20 alarm shelving procedures, with diversified times depending on the areas of the plant. The alarms will automatically reset when the shelving time expires.
OPC UA server
iFIX 6.0 is OPC UA Server: therefore any OPC UA client can interface directly with the SCADA Process Database. The direct connection ensures rapid implementation and safer data management.
Interface contextualized according to the structure of the model
With iFIX 6.0 operators can easily find the information they are looking for thanks to an HMI interface contextualized according to the structure of the model. The HMI interface changes as the user moves through the system. The navigation is derived from the model structure built by the designers. The context follows the asset definition and is defined only once for each asset class. This structured experience provides the operator with the most relevant information based on context and minimizes the effort to find it.
High-performance, ready-to-use HMI
To help designers create the right user experience, iFIX 6.0 offers predefined objects and templates designed for maximum performance. Ready-to-use layouts are also available. Designing the HMI has never been easier, optimizing troubleshooting and maintenance times. iFIX 6.0 also enables the assembly of graphical content using external HTML5 editors and automatic publishing of images to the web HMI.
View on any device
The HTML5 user interface built with iFIX 6.0 allows information to be viewed on any device. The native design for the web is responsive, i.e. able to adapt to the device with which the screen is accessed. Screens support multi-touch interactions and can be scaled to fit different screen sizes.
Safe by-design
iFIX is secure “by-design”: by taking advantage of open and secure standards such as OPC UA, digital certificates and web tokens, HMI can be implemented in complete safety. GE Digital's iFIX Secure Deployment Guide offers recommendations on best practices to follow.
