GE-Digital heralded the new generation of software iFIX and CIMPLICITY, the flagship HMI/SCADA platforms used by over 20.000 companies globally. Part of the Proficy software portfolio, iFIX 2023 e CIMPLICITY 2023 can help increase efficiency and accelerate development through Native HTML5 HMI, MQTT, centralized distribution e common wallet configuration.

Designed to enable today's “connected worker” to have more than a traditional HMI at their disposal, the new generation iFIX and CIMPLICITY can reduce installation and maintenance efforts thanks to the native HTML5 HMI with Proficy Operations Hub. This no-code/low-code environment it is also designed to support a easier mobility, a responsive design, an added value with modern web features, safety by design and rich information where and when users need it, on the devices of their choice.

The new native graphic designer HTML5 and GE Digital's lightweight, scalable runtime are designed to offer a better and faster way to develop your screenshots. Companies can increase visibility and productivity with a unified operator experience that can easily combine iFIX (or CIMPLICITY) with other OT and IT systems, adding information such as PDFs, videos, SQL tables, work orders and more.

“Today's industrial workforce can be both onsite and remote, require secure connectivity and collaboration tools, frequently use handheld and wearable mobile devices running operating systems ranging from Windows to iOS to Android, and want to be able to configure solutions without requiring extensive programming skills”is what he says Craig Resnick, Vice President, ARC Advisory Group.

“iFIX 2023 and CIMPLICITY 2023 address all of these requirements, from using native HTML5 and web-based design to using no-code/low-code technology, as well as providing users with low-bandwidth connectivity to an ever-increasing number of IIoT sensors, often used for asset monitoring and management, thanks to the native use of MQTT technology”.

iFIX 2023 and CIMPLICITY 2023 they provide a new MQTT5 client which can help streamline communication and support streamlined operations. The new client pPort data from sensors and smart IoT devices within the SCADA application and subscribes to MQTT message bus data. Other new features for both iFIX and CIMPLICITY include accelerators for screen creation, such as data auto-binding and configuration common across the Proficy portfolio.

“Our customer-driven innovation provides a modern, web-based HMI that improves the visualization and context of operations,” said Richard Kenedi, general manager of the Manufacturing and Digital Plant division at GE Digital. “Customers not only benefit from our continuous development, but also from the reliability and stability of these proven applications, which are responsible for monitoring, controlling and visualizing thousands of different operations around the world”.

Based on decades of research and development in collaboration with the renowned GE Research Center and the International Automation Society (ISA), GE Digital's HMI/SCADA is used in almost every industrial segment, from automotive manufacturing to food, from energy production to water treatment. For example, Berlin-based ORmatiC GmbH uses GE Digital's HMI/SCADA to automate biogas plants in Europe and North America, helping to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation. In collaboration with GE Digital's partner VIDEC Data Engineering GmbH, ORmatiC has achieved results including improved visual clarity thanks to ISA standards-based HMI screens, increased operator awareness and quicker response, faster configuration of the 20%, a 30% higher reliability for biogas operations and a 25% increase in uptime of biogas operations thanks to remote diagnosis.

In addition to the new features available in both applications, iFIX 2023 brings innovations that can further accelerate development and increase reliability. These new features include centralized project distribution, a model common to iFIX and GE Digital's Proficy Historian and Proficy Operations Hub, and TCP/IP-enabled failover that enables failover between networks/sites, supports architectural flexibility, and can facilitate recovery in the event of a disaster.

Other new features in CIMPLICITY 2023 are designed to simplify configuration and reduce risk. Features include GE Digital's Configuration Hub, which allows users to define projects and leverage OPC UA discovery; a common model on which users can publish CIMPLICITY classes/objects for HMI development; improvements to security and high availability.
