Furthermore, the value of the software is aligned with the use made of it: in practice, after the annual maintenance fee you will be free to historicise up to 500.000 tags, paying only for those that will actually be used.

Is this the only way to purchase and use Historian?
No - this is a new additional commercial pricing option. Perpetual licenses are still available. Historian Essentials licenses are still available
Why should customers pay the fee every year instead?
This model allows customers to store a very large number of tags and understand over time if they have value. We offer this option in addition to the standard perpetual licenses. Some clients will appreciate the switch from CAPEX to OPEX.
What about additional CAL prices? If I store 1000 tags in my history but can't view or use them, do I have to pay for 1000 tags (at the end of the year)?
