Bayshore Networks, a US company that develops solutions for the protection of the security and integrity of industrial networks and critical infrastructures whose solutions are distributed and supported in Italy by ServiTecno, has expanded its offer of hardware devices designed to guarantee companies maximum security in the transfer of industrial data from the factory to the outside.

When installed, NetWall products create a secure portion of the network, shielding and isolating critical resources and sensitive networks from cyberattacks and abuse, but allowing real-time transmission of files and data outside the secured perimeter to business systems, such as ERP, MES, PLM and others.

Netwall USG (Unidirectional Security Gateway), launched last year, is a unidirectional gateway, a “digital diode” that installs in a 19″ rack and physically separates industrial equipment from the outside world, protecting it from the risk associated with Internet exposure.

Thanks to this device it is possible to transfer data and files from the plants to the outside in a secure way, for example to integrate production data into IT platforms for decision support or to feed data analytics systems, without risking compromising the safety of the equipment of the plant. The diodes in fact isolate the internal network, considered reliable, from any type of incoming connection.

The newcomer to the family is called instead Netwall BSG (Bilateral Security Gateway) and incorporates all the features of the NetWall USG version, also adding the ability to receive response data from certain destinations on the untrusted network.

How does it work? Using the NetWall Bilateral Security Gateway solution, a TCP connection is initiated from the protected network to the "untrusted" network. At this point the destination network is authorized to reply to the "sender" by sending data. The permitted activity is only that of reply, while all other autonomous communication activity towards the protected network remains inhibited.

Both NetWall USG and NetWall BSG can securely transfer data from control systems, log files, database records and other data related to IT data centers, Security Operation Centers (SOCs) and based data storage on the cloud.

“With the release of NetWall BSG we continue to enhance the capabilities offered by our product line dedicated to the security of industrial control systems,” says Kevin Senator, CEO Bayshore Networks.
“With the addition of bidirectional security gateways to the unidirectional ones already available, Bayshore completes an already rich proposition which also includes the family of products for intelligent protection OTfuse and the series of devices for secure remote access OTaccess, available for On Premise installations, in the Cloud or on virtual machines”, he comments Enzo Maria Tieghi, CEO of ServiTecno.
